action, drama, comedy, everything is there in this movie. I never watched it completly and now that i did, i might buy the dvd.
This is an old classic, it means that it may be old, but hey, there are many good old movies, for those years it was really well produced and well done.
I suggest it !Classic franchise of disaster movies - Coconut_Willy
The original was probably the first of the disaster films that were produced in the '70s to great commercial success. It introduced the recipe that Irwin Allen would use again and again in his most successful productions; hire as many actors as possible to flesh out a simple story and go crazy with the stunts and special effects. As you watch these four installments though, you will find that they got worse with each outing. The first one was very good and the last one is as bad as it gets. The casts in all four films are just unbelievable; lots of familiar faces doing the required acting job according to the dialogue and characters they were given. In some cases, that's good, in others, quite bad. The sets and locations are appropriate, the soundtracks are all good and the camera work is OK. The stunts and special effects are not overly spectacular but are well made with the exception of the fourth installment where everything is lame, even the special effects. If you are interested by this series, watch the first movie and if you like it, continue with the others but be warned that they are not as good. You'll Laugh, You'll Cry, You'll Chew Off Your Own Hand - Liquid
I recently re-watched all four of the Airport movies, having seen them all on television decades ago. I wanted to relive the melodrama and soap opera angst that only 70's Disaster Movies can deliver and I wasn't disappointed. Standout moments: Karen Black in Airport '75 looking bored and dazed, uttering her lines with all the enthusiasm of a grocery list. And the laughable disregard for physics in Airport '79: Concorde. George Kennedy actually holds a flare gun out through the cockpit window while the plane is travelling over Mach 1. The first in the series is the best - watch it if only for Helen Hayes as the "little old lady" that gets away with everything. She's great.
