Better than Season 1 - HelexraAscianti
Season 1 was the perfect introduction to Buffy. It introduces all the characters, focuses in on each one of them individually enough so you get to know them, and finishes with a great conclusion that both satisfies the existing story and then leaves you wanting for more.
Then you get more. Much, much more. Bigger and badder villains. Bigger and badder drama. Bigger and badder plot twists! Plus: Love! Sex! and Vampires! (and these ones do burst into flames when exposed to sunlight instead of glittering like a dude attacked with the bejeweler).
It is a bit ... teenage and air-heady in parts (which is not surprising as it was aimed at teenagers, and the title character is supposed to be a valley-girl subverting the whole 'valley-girls are helpless' Hollywood prototype). However, the writing is good enough to compensate. If it really is just too immature, suck it up for seasons 1-3 and switch to watching Angel, which was aimed specifically at 'grown up' problems, instead of 'growing up' problems.Awesome - Chellpr
Season 2 is where Buffy shines. The show still revolves around teenagers but it begins to grow up without losing the fun. The forbidden romance between the slayer and a vampire becomes even more challenging. We see Buffy try to deal with her death and evaluate her relationships with the people around her. Anyone who stopped watching Buffy in the first season should give the second season a look, it is well worth it.One of the best seasons of Buffy - stephsverse
This is probably the best Buffy season as a whole. As always, with Buffy you get the sharp and funny dialogue, great acting, action, and a solid story, but what made this season shine was the tradgedy between Angel and Buffy (I won't give it away if you don't know what happened), which I'm sure would pull on anyone's heart strings. The introduction of the character Spike is also a major high point, bringing a sense of humor to the villians' side of the story and bringing a completely new and highly entertaining dynamic to the show. The episode "Halloween" is hilarious, "Innocence" is filled with emotionally exhausting drama, "Becoming pts. 1&2" are filled with sacrifice and heartache- this show doesn't ever stop being completely engrossing, though it does sometimes come close to being silly. By the end of the season, you have a sense of who these characters are and what they're willing to do and sacrifice to be the heros that they are. Season 1 introduces the characters; in season 2 each gets put under the spotlight.
