Not the same as the movies - Blob
I loved both Clerks and tend to like his movies in general, even Kevin Smiths less popular movies like Jersey Girl. However this series not so good. It was worth watching once, but on rerenting after a long while, I couldn't even finish watching the first disk. Same characters, but different feel. Perhaps it is the cartooney over the top feel to it, even more so then the demolition scene in Mallrats. It just lacks the charm of Smith's other works.
In short, if you are a fan, watch it once, but even if you did like it, you might not want to rent it a second time. If not a fan, pick something else, like the 2 clerks movies.Doesn't do justice for the movie - Spamdini
Clerks was an original, witty and very funny movie that showed a day in the life of a realistic store clerk. This cartoon is anything but realistic. That isn't the problem, however. Aside from just not being humorous, there's not much to differentiate Clerks from any other generic adult oriented cartoon.
Even if you're a fan of the movie, you might as well just skip it. The fact that the original actors from the movie provide their own voices is kind of neat, though.ABC used to mean Already Been Cancelled - Scagneti
Long before ABC was the darling of the networks with clever shows like Lost and Desparate Housewives, they were known for buying great premise shows and cancelling them before they had a chance. Here is an example of such a show. It is rumoured that ABC (owned by Disney) did this only to get even with Kevin Smith because of Dogma. That is a rumour and is not fact.
Set to debut opposite the Super Bowl(!) this show was cancelled after it's second episode, shown out of order and given a terrible timeslot.
This series does include all 6 episodes, in the correct order as well as hilarious mini-intros featuring Jay & Silent Bob. It is a little disconcerting to not hear Jay swear up a storm, but the storylines make it well worth several watches. Despite the lack of swearing, as with the movie, their are adult situations and I wouldn't recommend it for younger viewers, especially the mini-intros.
