Dune (2000) SE Director'sCut - Denthor
I must say I throughly enjoyed this movie. It was slightly different than the 1984 version of Dune by David Lynch (which I really enjoyed). I thought the character of Paul was a little spoiled but overall the movie was very well done. It followed the book fairly closely however I will say I have yet to watch a movie that does better than the books it is based on. This movie however is a decent addition to my collection.Meh, the 1984 movie was better. - Rekkin
I found this mini-series lacking but i think the main reason was that I just didn't like the actor they chose to play Paul. Too whiney. Then again I am biased because I really liked the movie and found the differences to be glaring (no sonic weapons, wtf...). Also the excessive CGI and poorly made backgrounds were very cartoony and they blew up that same damn warehouse about a dozen times.
Not bad and for someone who hasn't seen the movie they might enjoy this series but I found it to be sub-par.A Different Look & Feel to 1984 - Stu-
I really enjoyed the 1984 version of Dune by David Lynch. In fact it inspired me to read the book. This version is not better or worse. Just different. Because it is a mini-series, it could go into a lot more detail than the theatrical version, but again, I don't think it adds or detracts. The theatrical version filled all missing parts with narration. If you are a fan of Dune, you should like this. If you son't know about Dune, this should make you want to read the book.
