Kung Fu: Season 1
He is a man of peace in a violent land. He is Kwai Chang Caine, schooled in the spirit-mind-body ways of the Shaolin priesthood by the blind, avuncular Master Po and the stern yet loving master Kan. Caine speaks softly but hits hard. He lives humbly yet knows great contentment. He is the Old West's most unusual hero. But hero is not a word Caine would use. He would simply say, "I am a man."

Just watched the feature-length pilot, and if there's any pilot that'd make you keep watching the show, it's this one. David Carradine is literally the perfect person for this show, the spiritual yet tough Shaolin priest. Has wise sayings, good sets, cool characters, action, suspense, and an interesting storyline.Classic TV Series Better Than Ever - bwod
When David Carradine walked onto our tv screens for the first time as "Kung Fu's" Kwai Chang Caine, everyone knew this show was way different than any thing else the networks were offering at the time. For 1972, this show blew us away.
Now, some 35 years later, the series has been lovingly restored on a collection of dvd's, including some interesting bonus material. They include interviews with the stars, writers, and directors, and even the expert technical advisor David Chow, who provided the Kung Fu moves in all the fight scenes.
I was moved to tears, viewing this wonderful show, appreciating the more subtle aspects of the dialogue, which as a child went right over my head. If you are curious about the popularity of Kung Fu stories, look no further than this series. (Supposedly, the original idea for the show came from Bruce Lee, but he wasn't acknowledged for it, at the time.) Two thumbs up for David Carradine's sensitive portrayal of the fugitive Shaolin monk.
