Darling Buds Of May Collection, The
"The most popular series in the history of British television." -Sun Telegraph
Volume One:
The Darling Buds Of May "Perfick" - The Larkins have arrived and into their lives steps Charlie Charlton, the mild-mannered tax inspector who has come to check on Pop Larkin's non-existent accounts. However, he is distracted from that task by the beautiful and flirtatious Mariette Larkin. After a weekend with the Larkin family, Charlie must remind himself of his investigative duties.
When The Green Woods Laugh - Mariette prepares for her marriage to Charlie, the reformed Tax Inspector. Meanwhile, Pop turns his hand to property developing when he finds out he might be able to get his hands on Bluff Court, the dilapidated stately home of Lord and Lady Bluff-Gore and sell it for scrap, an idea fiercely opposed by the aristocratic, but cash-strapped, Lord Bluff-Gore.
Volume Two:
A Breath Of Fresh Air - The Larkins set off for Brittany having agreed that they definitely need a holiday. Unfortunately, things are not quite how Charlie remembers from his last visit before the war. Terrible food, the absence of port and awful weather greet their every move, but as usual, the sun finally shines down on the Larkins in more ways than one.
Oh! To Be In England - It is a good week for the Larkin family when Mariette gives birth to a baby boy. Pop discovers Captain Broadbent is cheating his old aunt and sets out to teach him a lesson.
Volume Three:
Stranger At The Gates - A stranger arrives in town and introduces himself as Pieter and claims to be from Denmark. From the start he is a big hit with everyone. Then the villagers find out that he is actually German and people suddenly become hostile.
A Season Of Heavenly Gifts - Pop meets an ex-RAF type and has a sudden windfall, although he manages to fall foul of shady property developer, Marcus Cope. Charlie, on the other hand, is busy trying to raise the money to buy a hop garden.
Volume Four:
The Happiest Days Of Your Life - Zinnia and Petunia, the Larkin twins, are proving to be too much of a handful for the local school. Therefore, Pop and Ma Larkin decide to send them to a nearby boarding school, Brockhurst College.
Cast Not Your Pearls Before Swine - Pop has the "perfick" birthday surprise for Ma. A traditional Punch and Judy show provides the laughter, with Pop supplying the voices. Also on show at the Larkin celebrations is George Harran, the man who has stolen the heart of Edith Pilchester. Pop, at first, is jealous and has his doubts about Edith's new boyfriend.
Volume Five:

There seems to be only one candidate in the running for office, Captain Robert Battersby, who is more interested in golf than politics and has been forced into the limelight by his pushy wife, Freda.
Christmas Is Coming - Christmas at Home Farm finds Ma in the kitchen making masses of mince pies and Mariette expecting another addition tot eh family. As Pop is out delivering Christmas trees, a mysterious fugitive from justice that is about to threaten the Larkin's idyllic family Christmas.
Le Grand Weekend - This hour-long special starts off on a high note with Ma winning an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris for two. Suitcases packed, she heads off to the airport with Pop in tow only to be prevented from taking off by the 'great' British weather.

What a wonderful surprise this series is set in an idyllic time. Lots of tastey food being consumed and no problems that can't be dealt with. Who wouldn't want Ma and Pop for parents. Catherine Zeta-Jones is maybe making her debut into acting. She was 22 when this series was made. The Darling Buds of May - oracle
