Sonny Steelgrave & The Mob - Arc 1
OBC agent Vinnie Terranova infiltrates the organization of Sonny Steelgrave, his undercover assignment to bring down the East Coast Mafia. It's the mission that Vinnie has spent years preparing for, but as he gets closer to his goal, the unexpected happens: he and his target become like brothers. Now he finds himself in the middle of a mob war between Sonny and the rest of the Mafia, with Sonny growing suspicious of everyone-including him.
As the circle of death closes in, an emotionally-torn Vinnie must decide what his next move should be. Does he allow Sonny to be brought to justice or go against the laws that have defined his life?

What is most interesting about this series is the use of story arcs across episodes, long before more contemporary shows like Heroes. This gives you more involved stories and character development.
Twenty years later, I think it still holds up pretty well for television drama.This one started it all - Pete_the_Great
This series is gritty and interesting for its day. It was the first series I can remember that posed some interesting questions - is a bad character all bad or can he likable? I mean Sonny Steelgrave is a very likable gangster. This was cutting edge stuff that predated classics such as The Sopranos.
