A Cute movie, but nothing more - Shmoolix
I thought it was a cute movie about a fan who wanted to keep this old timey comic book hero to it's original appeal, but the studio's want a new, tougher, and butcher hero. It is fun for Comic book fans, and even though someone said no name actors. Most of them you have to hear it in the voice. Because most of them are VOICE Actors, just listen and see if you can figure out where they are from. It was a cute movie had some funny moment but what annoyed me is everyone was talking over everyone and you couldn't get the punch line for most of the jokes I mean I know they were ad-libing, but can only be done if everyone shares the lime light and a group who actually knows how to pass the ad-libing ball to each actor like the actors in "best in show" So I don't know if this was a first writing/directing for Mark Hamilton, but I think he needs to re-edit it and maybe get Kevin Smith to co-create it to help out.Comic Book: The Movie Lacks Mainstream Appeal - TheShamus
Hey. Ever wondered what happened to Mark Hamill once he finished making the first three Star Wars movies? Well, he got into comic books -- and it looks like he decided to get into writing, producing and directing movies about his love.
Kevin Smith is right on the front of the movie. As a Smith fan, my interest was peaked enough to rent this "mockumentary" (a pretend documentary -- eg. "This Is Spinal Tap"). I have only a casual interest in comic books ... so, much of the humour in the movie is lost on me.
The budget is extremely low for this "direct to video" release. This movie is just not going to appeal to the masses ... but I suppose the masses are not the target audience.
It appears there are some comic book fans who are mildly enthusiastic about the movie. The other 98% of the population should stay clear of this movie. There are plenty of other good rentals in ZIP.CA's 40,000+ movie catalogue -- which would be a better way to spend a few hours.
Comic book fans deserve a better movie than this. I think the Star Trek documentary series, "Trekkies" is a much better way to approach a subject with a built-in limited audience.
If you decide to go ahead and rent this DVD ... you have been warned!

This is a movie/mockumentary about a comic book convention, and not a documentary about one. The acting is horrible, but easy surpassed by the horrible script.
Comic Book: The Movie is so bad, it's barely recognizable as a movie.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
