The Jeffersons: Season 1
Two-Disc Set Contains Complete First Season
Beloved by fans and critics alike, the Emmy-winning CBS series, The Jeffersons is one of the most highly-rated and longest-running sitcoms in TV history, spanning a decade (1975-1985) with over 250 episodes during its remarkable run. A spin off from the seminal "All In The Family" series, the ground breaking The Jeffersons chronicled the rise of jive talking African American dry cleaner king George Jefferson (Emmy nominee Sherman Hemsley) and his sassy, no-nonsense wife Louise "Weezy" (Emmy winner Isabel Sanford), as they left their blue collar neighborhood., "movin' on up" to a luxury high rise apartment in New York City. In the process, the series changed the face of prime time TV comedy, smashing stereotypes while serving up outrageous laughs.
This two disc DVD collection contains the entire hilarious first season (13 episodes in all) in one complete package.

We just finished 'The Jeffersons' Season 1 Disk 1. This was an amazing effort at portraying the man who had worked his way to the top, without an education, by sheer effort. He does not hesitate to flaunt his success (and wealth) to all around. The 'Uncle Tom' episode was particularly good because this man had spent his life as a railroad porter, but did not bear any animosity to others (especially white people). George was particularly incensed by this. By the end though, George was begrudgingly showing this man the respect he had earned for his life's work.
The inter-racial couple, the crazy Englishment, and Mother Jefferson make the situation extremely humorous.Classic for its time. - Blob
I remember watching this show as a wee lad. It is still OK, but I guess it is a bit dated. I don't think I will be getting the future disks in the series. I get the sneaking suspicion from the first few shows that the humour in the series will get repetitive if you watch shows or entire disks back to back as opposed to watching 1 show a week as was intentioned.
