this series went under the radar for some reason, while crappy sitcoms seem to rule.not sure why this is.this is a really authentic look at teen years and truly funny. the kids in this have real talent.they don't overdo their roles like so many comedies.there is something quirky about each character that draws you in.you might hear a few tunes you haven't heard in ages.it is like going back in time.great series, ended too soon - chrissieb
This is one of the best comedy series i've seen in a long time.It was funny, touching and realistic. At first i was a little put off by the whininess of Lindsay, the main character, but then i remembered that this is a representation of high school, and being moody is pretty much standard for that time, in my experience. The freaks were cool but still shown as kinda being losers and the geeks were spot on, the best geeks on television, very nerdy, but genuinely happy with themselves as they are. Really enjoyed it.Timeless Masterpiece - Freaks
Only the good die young. This is true of Freaks and Geeks one of the best sitcoms I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately it’s run was short lived, cancelled after only 18 episodes!
Freaks and Geeks provides Gen-Xers with an excruciatingly realistic look back in time to a period when we were all in different ways struggling to survive high school. Often at times when I was watching it I found myself back in time reliving situations that actually happened to me. The characters are very realistic, and the show is very appropriately cast. The pre-teen geeks actually are real pre-teen geeks not a bunch of 30year olds “acting”, the just “are”. The older teens are great also. Being a girl entering my teens in the 80’s I could really relate to Lindsay the main character and kind of the “everyman” character we would all relate to on some level. The adult characters although clichés in their roles are very three dimensional, you come to know them and understand them as well.
If you haven’t seen it yet and especially if you are a Gen-Xer rent it you won’t be disappointed!
