The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - TheWiz
Anyone who has ventured into the world of JRR Tolkien knows that his books can be read over and over without ever getting bored. Wish I could say the same about the translation from page to screen. The first installment, Fellowship, was well orientated; actors were exciting as they introduced their characters and the intergrated CGI scenes were very well done. By the time we get to this last installment, we found that it was just more of the same as opposed to the book where the story evolves. With it's lack of real evolution in the screenplay and much to heavy reliance on CGI, this film was just plain boring to us. Back to the book!Probably the greatest ever - saint_angrrr
It's hard to even start reviewing a movie of such magnitude!
This is probably one of the longest movies you will ever watch... but worth every second. I find the LOTR movies perfect for a rainy weekend day where you just want to veg out and get lost in another world for a while. The length is much easier to deal with at home than it was in the theatre (a human bladder can only take so much abuse)
I have never before seen such a perfect marriage of superb acting, eye popping special effects AND a great story to prop it all up (its rare to even get 2 out of those 3) To wrap up the EPIC trilogy, Peter Jackson pulls out all the stops and spares no expense or hardship on ROTK. The entire cast really devoted themselves 110% to this movie and making it the masterpiece that it is.
Even the special features are well worth watching, as it shows you the immensity of the project they all took on in this movie. You gain a real appreciation for the cast and crew, and get to see how close-knit the entire production of people came to be.
If you are a fan of the books, I don't think you will be let down. It does stray in some parts, but I think it is clear why Peter Jackson chose to do things like he did (or else the movie would have been an extra 2 hours!)Saving the best effort for last - Meadows
WOW!!!!
What more can one say. This movie is visually stunning, non-stop action, wonferful special effects and great acting. This is the perfect climax to a FANTASTIC series. I think Tolkien would have been more than satisfied with end product of his literary work.
I cannot stress enough that if you love fantasy you should sit down and spend the time to watch all 3 of these movies.
