They didn't always get along or "communicate" well, but they were a less-than-perfect family that gave viewers an opportunity to discuss issues that might not have otherwise been raised. It's a true clash of an old and young generation - and the "young generation" is today's old generation! Some funny laughs and classic Archie lines. Not for kids!outstanding comedy - paddyboy
This show is as comical as I remember it. The shouting matches are not overdone and are basic to the characters and the plot. Edith's absentmindedness and confusion are hilarious. All characters play their roles perfectly. This show produced a number of spin-offs (The Jeffersons, Maude, for example).
I would have rated this show as 5 stars, except for the fact that the disk did not contain the 5th episode as advertised on the sleeve; 'Edith Has Jury Duty' could not be found on the menu. However, this was a technical defect so I should probably give it a 5 star rating. I am looking forward to future disks in this series.America's most loveable white-nationalist on a pinko-communist stage - Kishtar
Liberal agendas fighting against tradition and values never was quite so entertaining. The phony communist social commentary mixed with Archie's and Edith's quirky and lovable mannerisms is a great mix of the disgusting and wonderful.
It's really funny to watch a show about degenerates being the good guys, and the guy that believes in racial differences being the bad guy. However, Archie somehow stole the show on this and I'm not sure if that was by complete accident or not.
Whoever stuck their long nose in this project somehow managed to create something that was good in the long run while only trying to educate people about what to think about race, sex, Christianity. A snapshot of liberalism in the 70s, as the great American cities were being destroy hollywood was pointing the way.
1000 years from now this video will document how the west laughed itself all the way into its own genocide. Of course the remainder of humanity will have continued to de-evolve and will be living in caves, unable to comprehend what great era came before them.
