Northern Exposure: Season 1
Northern Exposure chronicles the plight of the New York-bred Joel Fleischman (played by Rob Morrow), a medical intern forced to repay his scholarship by serving four years as general practitioner in the remote town of Cicely, Alaska-a tiny logging village filled with odd inhabitants and even stranger happenings.

Easily, one of the best written shows to ever be broadcast. It had a unique setting, unique characters, and unique and interesting story lines. Yes, I use the word unique a lot. That characteristic was on of the shows greatest appeals. There really wasn't anything like it on television.
It had an insanely loyal but relatively small following. Those people still exist and have an annual gathering in Washington where it was shot.Northern exposure season 1 - murthy
A NewYork doctor, from Columbia med school, travels to Alaska in order to fulfil the terms of his scholarship, but instead of the Anchorage hospital that he was expecting he finds himself shipped off to Cicely, a small town in the middle of nowhere, peopled with oddballs and eccentrics, where he must set up as a GP, in this decidedly gentle and relatively straightforward though never less than thoroughly entertaining first season of a series that would go on to much greater thingsInteresting and unique show - Garv
I don't know if it's because I'm 17 years older than when this show first debuted, but I was pleasantly surprised by the concept of this show. When the show first came out, I wasn't interested in it at all as I was still in high school and had other things going on. I was intrigued, however, when I saw a rerun a while ago. I think that it's really rare that a show that aired so long ago is still good today. So why exactly did I like this show? It's the storyline - the idea of following the lives of people who live in the middle of nowhere in a town of 815 people. With nothing really going on, the characters make the show, and that's kind of rare nowadays. Plus, the scenery is spectacular.
