"Apparently being different is forbidden on Cable."
Unlike all other Television show's: Boomtown toke a different direction, Known as the Road less Taken. The creator's Jon Avnet, Peter Werner and Tucker Gates alternated as directors. They Coinsidentally meet a year earlier on the set of HBO's special The Band of Brother's. It's said The idea came from Jon Avnet and Donnie Wahlberg when both spent lunch remanising about the good ol' day's when Reality TV didn't dominate the airwaves. They purposed a plan to NBC that if they could find an orginal series that captivated people maybe they could rebirth the nation and gravitate audiences?! Sure Boomtown was Orginal and sounded like a full proof plan- but it wasn't advertised properly. I never even heard about it until years later. Had i known about Boomtown i'd be 1 of those supporting real show's on Cable. It's a crying shame. The show had me hooked, and wanting more...Very cool. - danielle
This show has a very cool concept and the right actors to pull it off. The writers are brilliant for the show and they weave intricate plots through an interesting style of narration. I rented this by chance and put the rest of the discs on ASAP once I had seen the first one. A definite renter!clever, compelling -- cancelled - clementine
Yet another example of TV networks striving to cater to the lowest common denominator. This show is smart, the writing is fantastic, the characters are fully fleshed out and the non-linear storylines are riveting -- so naturally the show didn't make it past the first season. Thumbs down to the network, thumbs up to the show's creators.
