Saturday Night Live: 25 Years of Music
For decades, some the greatest musicians in the nation have graced the small stage of Saturday Night Live. They played hit after hit, introducing late-night television audiences to music and bands they might not have heard before and participating in some of the funniest SNL sketches the show has produced. These performances are a time capsule of music and trends; it is at times nostalgic and at times hilarious, but always entertaining.

Not what I Expected! - WildAlbedo
This set was not what I expected. I am very happy I didn't run out and purchase it (like I had planned) before watching it. I thought this was a completed collection of ALL the SNL musical guests ever appearing on the show. Especially for the price to buy! However, it is simply a collection of some of the performers over the 25 years. Despite this I do enjoy this set as you can see how the music has changed over the years. I especially enjoyed discs four and five since these had the more recent music that I enjoy. The first discs were good as well as they feature real performers with real music...back when music was a lot better than it is today...Proving that SNL has gone to the dogs over the last few years. - ross2
Maybe it's the old fogey in me, but the music of SNL really has started to turn bad... the show used to have (as these disks show) some real powerhouse bands - Rick James, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, and Roy Orbison for instance (featured on early disks). The sound is nothing to write home about, due to the technology of the day, I'm sure. The comedy bits mainly detract from the overall set, unfortunately.
