I loved both the rex stout books and the 1940's radio series that starred Sydney Greenstreet, so for me, this series had a great deal to live up to. it succeeds beautifully. The sets, music, costumes and general atmosphere are picture perfect, and Timothy Hutton is dead on. This is immensly entertaining stuff, so sit back and enjoyReasonably well done - MovieLover
The makers had the unenviable task of emulating Rex Stout whose plots are as complicared as his main characters are complex; and his writing skills excellent.
Rex Stout spins a good yarn and spins it stylishly.
This is a stylish production.
In the first disc, the first case is way better than the second: the acting is reasonably good: Tim Hutton is good as Archie; the actor playing Nero is tolerable but has an awesome task of playing one of the great characters of mystery action.
On the whole, worth watching.
The second disc is good too.
But it's the first story that is so well done--the other two are fairly average.Nero Wolfe is a must see! - gidge
Beautifully done, masterful sets and wardrobes to die for and Nero Wolfe is such a character and his sidekick Archie is forever getting himself in trouble with the gals! I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a dash of comedy thrown in for good measure!
