I remember watching this show back in the 80s. It was very forward for it's time. When I watch it now, I get some of the references they make much better than I did back then.
It is a great show about two best friends working-class who are trying to live a full life while having big dreams for their futures.
The contrast between Laverne and Shirley plays out exceptionally well and they compliment each other so well.
A must-see for TV lovers.Laverne and shirley!!!! - movie_goer
From Happy days and Garry Marshall.. Laverne and Shirley are born as two incredibly witty, and outragous spinisters in Milwalkee. The comedy show is a hoot, complete funny about the mishabs and strange encounters with life. i didn't find one episode boring, Laverne as the pestimist and level headed stronger female and Shirley as the sensitive girlie-girl who's head is always in the clouds while searching for "mr.right". I couldn't get enough of it's classic charm this show is a must for old timers rekendling there past or for those who enjoy a good laugh. The girls still hold up well today - Filbert
It's been almost 30 years since this show first aired and I was more than a little surprised by how well it held up. From the very first episode, it was obvious that Marshall and Williams had a comedic chemistry that's like catching lightning in a bottle. I think the secret of how the show got off to such a strong start was that the lead characters were well fleshed out and also the supporting actors held their own with the comedy. Lenny and Squiggy are just as indelible parts of the success of the show as Laverne and Shirley. Not showing any hints of the melodrama that would ultimately ruin it in the latter seasons, just like many of the 70's comedy shows (a la Happy Days), the gags still seem fresh and the lines are delivered with perfect timing and hilarious results. Season 1 is definitely worth your viewing time.
