I just started watching Dinner for five and I just love it! Jon Favreau has the personality that makes the actors open up. He knows how to talk about his experiences and then shift the conversation to the others. He is an intelligent writer, director and actor. He has a very interesting career and you sense the interest in all the actors around the table. It may be because the actors did not go there to promote a project, they went there to exchange with their peers and it shows.
This is why my title is....Why aren't the other seasons available on DVD? Only the first one was issued and I wonder. I would love to get the others! If you like the stories behind the scenes and the industry rent this series - GoldenReel
Jon does a great job of hosting this open and honest dinner conversation. Great insight into the movie industry and how cut throat it is. Makes you almost feel bad for actors. The candor between the cast is pretty refreshing. The research Jon does before the taping helps generate interesting discussions.Dinner and a Whole Lotta Insights - Zen-
Anyone who is a fan of indie film (but not exclusively), anyone who wants to make a film, or anyone who is just interested in what the Glitterati have to say, should watch this disk. 4 actors, and the host, Jon Favreau, get together to have a meal and talk movies and filmaking.
Lots of interesting insights, excellent stories, and the occasional gut-bustingly funny guest, make for a unique concept. Watch for the Peter Falk, Vince Vaughn episode. David Cross, who in my opinion, is one of the funniest men around, out yuks Denis Leary.
If you don't care about how movies are made, or who does what in the process, it's probably not for you.
