Sealab 2021: Season 1
It is the year 2021. In this mind-bogglingly distant future, Sealab rises imperiously from the ocean's floor, her crew charged with exploring the possibility of underwater colonization. That is, when they're not fighting giant squids over a toy oven.* Or running pirate radio stations. Or trying to put their brains into robot bodies. Or going back in time. Or being attacked by flesh-ripping aliens. Or becoming addicted to scorpion venom. Or getting stuck in a storage closet. Or going back in time again. Captain Murphy. Marco. Debbie. Stormy. Doctor Quinn. Dolphin Boy. They're all inside this box, screaming to get out so they can live inside your television. So buy the damn thing and set them free. You'll be ridiculously glad you did. Promise. *Makes real cupcakes! With a 40-watt bulb!

Wildly uneven, Sealab 2021 may well work better in DVD compilations than as individual episodes on TV. The writers, editors, etc. go pretty much any direction they can within the limits of mostly recycled animation, but some of those directions lead to comedy gold while others just lead to new depths of mediocrity. The same problem plagued 'Space Ghost: Coast to Coast,' but your best bet is to do a little research first and then focus your attention on the strongest episodes.Waiting for . . . - The_Librarian
If I could use one word to define SeaLab 2021 it would be absurd. I mean absurd as in Beckett mixed with Kafka, I am serious, every episode the characters border on great science and progress and live in a world of great technology and progress and all they want to do is focus on petty matters. If you like seinfeld or absurdist/kafkaesque comedy I reccomend this show. The best part is the episodes are only like 15 minutes so once the joke situation gets old it is over.Ugly but Funny - XTRUClerk
This has got to be one of the ugliest animated shows on TV today. It's so ugly it might put you off watching it. But you shouldn't let it's looks fool you. At its worse watching Sealab is like sitting on the couch with your friends and inventing dialogue for the film your watching because the film isn't that good and you're bored (Think Mystery Science Theater), but at its best it's laugh out loud funny with some really off the wall humor. It will also depend which episode you watch because the show runs hot and cold. It is worth a look for fans of off-beat humor (but not for fans of good animation). Have a look. Cheers.
