Columbo is a classic! - MsBean
Columbo is a classic! The formulaic approach stays surprisingly fresh given the variety of mystery scenarios put forward. Columbo as a character is an archetype - decades later I think we might take him for granted. And that 70's and 80's LA atmosphere makes great Sunday afternoon television.Another Couple of Gems !!! - Boardman
Somehow, although a huge Columbo fan, I'd never seen Prescription Murder. What a treat! As with all the original series episodes, these episodes both have strong story lines and keep you thinking all the way through.
Some don't enjoy these mysteries due to the novel approach of showing the audiance "who done it" at the beginning of the episodes. I find this a refreshing change and enjoy watching the character pick apart what the perp thinks is "the perfect crime".

Other murder mysteries are based on the "who done it" premise where the audience is kept in the dark about the identity of the culprit until the end where all is revealed by the hero. In this series, the murderer is usually shown early as the crime is commited so viewers see his or her identity immediately. The real mystery is how Columbo, perfectly played by Peter Falk, goes about catching the criminal. Some episodes are better than others but even the least ones are worth seeing.
