Whenever I felt down, I watched any episode of this series and it would immediately get me laughing. The most amazing part which separates this series from any other comedy is the very clever and unique way short and funny key scenes from old movies are thrown in. By adding those scenes, you know exactly how the character feels and you also feel it too! I just can't get enough of those cuts from vintage movies. I really wish zip.ca could get the all the seasons apart from Season 1 and 2.This dream is over - CanAmerican
"Dream On" is the Andrew Dice Clay of sitcoms. Clearly you either love it or you hate it. There seems to be no in between.
The first "no holds barred" television (oops... HBO) show that featured single adult men acting like the children we are in adult situations. This is "Three's Company" the way all of us guys dreamed it should be.
In all fairness, though, there were a lot of story lines I didn't enjoy. Some of the scenes really were a bit much and those constant clips of vintage movie clips that did not enhance the series or stories at all got old real fast.
With only the first 2 seasons out of 6 available on DVD "Dream On", like Dice, has been banished from posterity. It's difficult to understand why "Dream On" has been left for dead when "Sanford and Son" and "All in the Family" are available at every video store.I wish there were more episodes - sinic
I remembered this series when I first saw it about 10 years ago, but didn't remember how funny it actually was. The humor isn't forced like it is in the popular sitcoms of today (how anyone watches trash like 2 and a half men is beyond me) and there is no cheesy laugh track. The only sad part is that there aren't more episodes as the show gets better and better as the season goes on. Only downside of this collection is that the bonus material is pretty lame. The strength of the shows makes up for it though ... highly recommended!
