Panic Room: Special Edition
Trapped in their New York brownstone's panic room, newly divorced Meg Altman (Jodie Foster) and her daughter Sarah (Kristin Stewart) play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with three intruders-Burnham (Forest Whitaker), Raoul (Dwight Yoakam) and Junior (Jared Leto)-during a brutal home invasion. But the room itself is the focal point because what the intruders really want is inside it.

Suspensful Fincher. - estefan
David Fincher keeps the suspense high in Panic Room, containing the whole film in a single building and keeping it gripping through the entire running time. Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart work well together, but this is Fincher's show all the way. The use of editing and the cinematography has all of his strong trademarks and they aid the screenplay in creating an intense experience. The story pulls plenty of unexpected moves, which makes it all the more exciting and interesting. This is another worthy entry in David Fincher's impressive filmography.Hard not to enjoy this. - KeithTalent
Surprised I've never seen this considering I really like David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac, The Game, all cool movies). Fun movie overall, with quite a few dumb things going on, a lot of the almost typical, dumb, horror movie things where you yell at the screen "what the heck are you doing?" but then contrasted with some "haha, awesome" moments. I also enjoy Fincher's funky camera work, the long pans through a room, through the chairs, or going through a hose, into a room; a bit silly maybe, but it's fun in this type of film. So yeah, not awesome, but I was glued to the screen the entire time and was interested to see how everything played out, so a fun 2 hours with this one.Well-plotted, taut thriller - jmikesmith
The uncredited member of the cast is the house where the action takes place. This specially designed set allows the camera to be anywhere, go anywhere. A hallmark of this film is long swooping camera moves up and down stairwells, through partially open doors, and even through walls and floors, with the joists and studs clearly visible.
As the director himself says in his commentary track, this is a capable "B" movie thriller. There are no grand ideas or stellar performances, but everything is solid and well-crafted. There are a couple of twists that keep the suspense level up and keep you guessing right to the end. An enjoyable evening for thriller fans.
