This 2002 film is a masterpiece by Roman Polanski, based on the autobiography by Jewish-Polish musician Wladyslaw Szpilman. It tells the story of Szpilman’s escape from the Warsaw ghetto during the Second World War and his survival while hiding in Warsaw during the rest of the war. Adrien Brody gives a riveting performance in the lead role, winning the Academy Award for Best Actor. The film also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay and was nominated for Best Picture. Well worth watching.Brilliant - bbryon1
The story of Polish Jew Wladyslaw Szpilman, a celebrated composer and brilliant pianist, who witnessed the brutal Nazi occupation of his beloved city, the creation of the Warsaw Ghetto, and the deportation of his entire family to the labour camps.
I highly recommend this film. It was hard to watch at some points, especially in the first half, but all in all, it was an inspirational sensation. The acting was great, but the story line of this one was what really stood out to me. A must see.

.Superbe tristesse - Tigidou
