Miami Vice: Season 1
The show that defined a decade is now the DVD event of the year! The cops. The cars. The clothes. From executive producer Michael Mann (Collateral, Heat) comes the first season of the explosive, groundbreaking detective show that redefined the word "cool." Set against the seamy and steamy Miami underworld, ride shotgun with suave Vice cops Sonny Crockett (Golden Globe winner Don Johnson) and Rico Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) as they battle a never-ending gallery of criminals, drug dealers and lowlifes. Also starring Emmy and Gold Globe winner Edward James Olmos, and a powerhouse roster of guest stars including Ving Rhames, Jimmy Smits (who tried out for the role of Tubbs!) and Bruce Willis.

The Epitome of Style - Josh_J
Michael Mann's 'Miami Vice' took television style, violence and music to new heights during its run from 1984-89. The underworld chronicles of Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs have become a mainstay in popular culture for good reason. This show is smart, entertaining and, above all else, extremely cool. Give it a look. Not a Cop out! - dexx74
This show changed the face of television. It was a more realistic cop show than many others out there. It was true to life in many aspects. Bad guys getting away, good guys getting hurt, killed or even rapped. The victims reacting like real victims (revenge killing) and the music played a big part in the show in that era. The cars, the shootouts, the realism (although there were was lots of ham acting) it can still be true to life today. Miami Vice is a good show that still stands the test of time and is good entertainment if you can see past the wardrobes. If you like to be entertained, this will keep you happy.Crockett and Tubbs - quackers
Well first off I would just like to mention I'm a huge fan of the t.v. series. Crockett and Tubbs have to one of my favorite t.v. cops ever, dressed in flashy clothing in the 80's, driving fast cars, bending the code of police ethics a bit to get the job done. And the music is top notch. Micheal Mann, the director does brilliant work. I love all his films. I give this Season 1 DVD 4 out of 5 stars. I took one star away, because the quality of dvds used for this Season 1 series is crap. I inspected the dvd up close, and found it to be 2 really low quality dvd's used to record the season and poorly glued together. This gave me problems viewing it in my dvd machine. And because of this poor quality I cannot recommend buying it, unless they change the quality of dvd's in future. Which I do hope happens, I love the series and would have liked to give it the full 5 stars.
