Starhunter 2300: The Complete Series
In the 23rd century, humanity has spread to the stars and planets in Earth's solar system. Civilization is a patchwork of a hundred worlds, most with weak governments and weaker laws. It is a golden age for criminal bounty-hunters who exploit this lawlessness and use the incredible technology of the future to prey on others. A former luxury space liner, the Tulip, is now a bounty-hunting vessel commanded by Travis (Sunset Beach's Clive Robertson) who searches the galaxy in search of his father. He's joined on his quest by cosmic hunter Rudolpho, holographic AI system Carravagio, sexy special services officer Callista, rebellious engineer Percy and bad boy Marcus. Now the fight for justice is set among the stars...and the showdown is about to begin.

I love it like Twilight. I thought at first I was team Jacab but no longer -- I'm team Travis now.
A magnificent series, a hundred million times better than most other ones. This is film noir set in the future. StarHunter is a dark, brooding, gritty and grim series set in a future populated with even more vices. Genetic drift, a partially evolving mankind, hostile raiders and a dangerous solar system provide a breathtakingly dark backdrop for a great series.
The external shots are the best -- they made me feel I was exploring space with the crew of the Tulip, the ship's nickname. The rings of Saturn, the desolation of mars and the rocky surface of Io all flesh out a magnificent background. Often while the story takes place aboard a ship, moon, or space station, we see a bright and beautiful Jupiter in the backgrond, or Saturn with its glittering multiple rings. The background alone make me love this series and the wonderful cast, expecially Tanya Allen, will stick with you long after you finish viewing the series.A Fun Ride! - Brahpps
Starhunter 2300 is very similar in many ways to "Firefly" as a series except for one way. Writing. What "Firefly" had in terms of dialogue, storylines, etc... is not as evident here in "Starhunter".
It does however develop the characters quite well as "Firefly" did, but it does make a huge difference if you have seen the first season (Titled simply "Starhunter") with Michael Pare. It explains a little further the relationship of Travis looking for his father.
If you like "Firefly", you'll enjoy Starhunter. Just don't expect the one liners in this one.Great BUT SLOW - XTRUClerk
I thought this was a Roger Corman series, Like Black Scorpion, but it wasn't. It certainly looks better than Corman's stuff. The series is either British or Canadian (depending on who you believe). Some of the actors do have accents and some of them are Canadian judging by some of the other things they've starred in. This is actually the second season of this series, the first had an almost completely different cast, including Canadian Michael Pare. It seems to have been something created for Space (the Canadian Sci-Fy network) or one of the American cable stations... If you're getting the impression that I'm confused about the series, I am. I'd never heard of the show until I saw the box set for sale somewhere. I added it to my rental list just out of curiosity, not expecting anything. I was surprised to find the show both compelling and addictive. The reasons? Well, it's got a really great and unusual soundtrack (anchored at the start by a Peter Gabriel tune), some (sometimes) beautiful special effects (the space ships mostly, explosions look pretty bad), a cast of people unknown to me, each more interesting than the other (Tanya Allen, being at first the most annoying and eventually the most interesting). You see, the show has a very slow, delibarate pace. The actors speak calmly, slowly, and at first seem to be suffering from some form of sleeping desease that makes them sluggish. It's only after a few episodes that you get to appreciate how low key the series is. It's different from any science fiction series I can think of because of this... Lethargy. I've seen two disks now and I'm shocked to say that I'm hooked. I want to see more and... After the next four discs there is no more. What will I do, the series was cancelled three years ago! If you've never heard of this show and are curious have a look, but be very, VERY patient with it, it is a very slow series. cheers.
