Get Shorty (Special Edition)
Drug smuggling. Racketeering. Loan Sharking. Welcome to Hollywood!
Golden Globe winner John Travolta leads an all-star cast in the hysterical comedy that Times calls "smart, shrewdly crafted and hilarious!"
Loan shark Chili palmer (Travola) is bored with the business. So when he arrives in L.A. to collect a debt from down and out filmmaker Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), Chili talks tough.. and then pitches Harry a script idea. Immediately, Chili is swept into the Hollywood scene: He schmoozes film star Martin Weir (Danny Devito), romances B-movie queen Karen Flores (Rene Russo) and even gets reservations at the hottest restaurants in town. In fact, all would be smooth for this cool new producer, if it weren't for the drug smugglers and the angry mobster who won't leave him alone!

Every now and again you get one of these silly, over the top movies that is just a ton of fun. Watching this movie you could tell that the actors were having a great time and play out the story in a way that comes across really well.
I am not generally a Travolta fan, but he is great in this movie. What can you say about DeVito except AWESOME ... this is one of those performances that really shows that he can be one of the funniest actors ever.
Between the humour, classic lines and crazy story, this movie was really well put together. Great show all around ... really enjoyed it!Look at me...... - DoubleDownAgain
While Danny Devito might have been the original choice to play Chili Parmer, the filmmakers did a wise choice in getting Quentin Tarantino to talk Travolta into taking the role. There have been many movie adaptations from Elmore Leonard movies done by this time but none as good as Barry Sonnenfeld's vision. It had the right blend of drama and comedy and all of the performances were spot on. None so much as Travolta's. NO ONE could have played the part like he did. The supporting cast was top notch, featuring Gene Hackman, Rene Russo, James Gandolfini (Pre-Sopranos!), Delroy Lindo & shorty himeslf, Danny Devito. There are so many great spots in this film it would be unfair to list just one. While I would recommend this movie to almost everyone, there is heavy coarse language as well as some violence. It is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time.
