Scary Title (Ha ha ha) - Dina
Don't let the long and boring sounding title scare you off. These two disks give insights into what inspired Martin Scorsese, but more than that it really makes you want to see some of the older ones whether or not they were classics. It is full of interesting tidbits, clips and insights. Truly not one to be missed.If you love movies. - T-Bar
If you love movies and have not seen this gem you are seriously missing out. Scorsese takes the viewer through the whole world of film. The history, the directors, the stars and especially the process that makes film making the art form it is.
I liked in particular the fact that the clips we see are the artist's personal choices. It's a great opportunity to build your list of must sees. Some of the films are relatively obscure but the director sees each with its own spark of importance.

If there is one DVD that has contributed the most to my continuing education of filmmaking, this is it. With two discs, one that is double sided, this DVD is loaded with more insight and reflection on the growth of the art of filmmaking than any class or book I’ve ever come across. Examining both technological and intellectual growth of the director, Martin Scorsese takes us on a literal journey through the stories told and smuggled by mainstream and obscure filmmakers. I could write pages raving about how important this is to be seen, by both aspiring and successful filmmakers. Make it a priority.
