The Mary Tyler Moore Show: Season 2
Mary and the gang from WJM-TV return in another award-winning season. No longer the new girl in town, Mary has come to think of the newsroom staff as family. But along with the good times and close friendships come the often trying — and ultimately hilarious — situations every family faces. From Mary explaining the facts of life to Phyllis’ daughter to going on a blind date (set up by Lou!), to attending her disastrous high school reunion, it’s clear why this TV classic is one of the most beloved comedies of all time.

This show succeeds where so many other shows like it have failed. Instead of sitting back and resting on it's laurels because of the debut season's success, the show tried to enrich each character by trying things they hadn't in the past. Check out the episode where Lou sets Mary up with one of his friends. Ed Asner is hysterical as he awkwardly tries to make magic between two people where none is evident. Ted Baxter is a terrific self important loser; let's give him a brother who's even more so to give Baxter some more depth. The absolute best episode though is where Murray's wife thinks he's having an affair with Mary. Everyone in the episode has something funny to do and even the reconciliation that occurs inspires more yuks than "awwww"s. Most importantly though is the subtle (and not so subtle) ways the show brought sex onto the airwaves. By letting it creep in episode by episode, they opened the door for every show that followed to take risks both big and small in this area.MTM season 2 - wizard_5860
gezzz I thought I had seen all the episodes with all the reruns I looked at on t.v. But I must say half of these I had not seen to my suprise. Still as enjoyable to look at as the first episodes. But I missed out on alot of her life stories and one as funny as the other I mostly enjoyseeing the changes in each and every character. I am still waiting to see the episode that Rhoda got married in but I have yet to see it.Mary Tyler Moore Show - Sammy1
The Mary Tyler Moore Show was a pioneer and champion for all women in the workforce at a time when very few women worked outside of the home. She became a role model for what women should have aspired to be then and should still be fighting for in today's jaded society. She was an inspiration to women back then and still is today! Way to go Mary Richards!
