Michael Palin: Himalaya
Hot on the heels of his adventures in the Sahara, Michael Palin takes on the abode of snow and begins a 2000-mile journey across this mighty and majestic region of Asia. Encountering extremes of wealth and poverty, altitude and freezing cold, he once again brings his unique wit, charm and wisdom to each of these 6 episodes. Along the way he encounters, among many others, the Dalai Lama, the Bhutanese Royal Family, and the once-feared head hunting tribe of the Konyak. While on his travels he passes through Afghanistan, across India to the feared Death Zone near the base of Mount Everest and then onto the Bhutanese capital before arriving in the Bay of Bengal.

Review - Michael Palin: Himalaya - maw-
I have watched many of Palin's travelogues, and love them all. He is an immensely watchable presenter, and approaches his travels with real enthusiasm, never talks down to the people he meets. He's always very open and interested. I will never go to the Himalayas in person, so I am glad to have gone there through Palin's eyes.recommended - billie
This is so good. Palin is a wonderful traveller, seeking to learn from the people about whatever is important to them. The scenery is magnificent, it must be mind blowing in person. I've never seen such contextual and clear pictues of Chomolungma before. His exploration of the Himalayas is fascinating, I've enjoyed all his travelogues, but this one more than any before. If you have any interest in the rest of the world, you should rent this.Journey the World with Michael - WetCoaster
This man goes to some of the most interesting places in the world. The scenery is breathtaking, I can only imagine what it looks like in person. Things seem to happen to him or around him. From insurgents kidnapping people to special performances in remote temples, the story around the trip is as exciting and interesting as the physical places. It's not Monty Python, but an understanding of dry British humour adds to the enjoyment of this series.
