My husband and I both really enjoyed these - we used to watch Broken Saints when it was a Flash webcomic online, and not only was the reminiscing fun, the improvements with the voice and sound for the DVD version were nice too. I love 2 things in particular about Broken Saints - the way the story is so well constructed and thought out from start to finish (not making it up as they went along), and the way it entertains regardless of when you pick up watching. The poetic writing and haunting music and visuals make it hypnotic to watch even if you've just walked in to a late episode and have no idea what's going on - Love 'Em! :)Great story telling - drakhaon
First of all, Broken Saints is not an animated series in the usual sense. I think the best analogy would be a graphic novel with a degree of animation. The soundtrack and voice overs are excellent in quality. A few familiar voices make up the cast though at times the voice acting can be a little melodramatic.
If you're willing to try out a new form of story telling then give this series a try. Although I'm undecided as to whether I like the ending, I have become a great fan of the series and highly recommend it.Awesome. - Drew
Broken Saints isn't a comic book that's read for you, and it's not storyboards... it's a whole new medium. It's 'animated literature'. It has a really different visual style that takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get into the story you totally forget about how it looks. Great series, it's definitely come a long way from the little internet project a group of Canadians began a couple of years ago. You can tell a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into it.
Great, thought-provoking and philosophical story. Definitely a thinking man's story.
