Ringu: Anthology Of Terror
The Ringu Anthology of Terror Collector's Set brings the Ring phenomenon full circle. This unique and exclusive multi-DVD set includes the four internationally acclaimed Japanese films that reinvented horror and inspired two of the most terrifying films ever made: The Ring and The Ring Two.
Ringu follows a reporter who investigates the curse surrounding a mysterious videotape after the inexplicable death of her young niece.
Rasen (Spiral), the sequel to Ringu, finds a doctor linking the horrifying death of his former medical school classmate with four teens who died after watching a cursed videotape.
Ringu 2 reveals more bone-chilling truths about the haunted girl on the deadly videotape. Now, the girl attempts to possess a young boy and begin a new cycle of terror that's more frightening than ever.
Ringu 0 taking place 30 years before the events of Ringu, provides the shocking background story of how the girl on the video became a deadly, vengeful spirit.

If you appreciate Japanese horror films, then these are a good watch. Granted theres good, and mediocre, and not so great, but overall I'd consider this series pretty decent. It's definitely very obvious that the american remakes of japanese horror movies (which includes many of the more recent american horrors) are never nearly as entertaining, creepy, and unsettling.50-25-25 - PhoenixBC
That's 50% good - 25% ok - 25% dreadful.
Ringu is a truly classic Japanese horror film. It is dark, creepy and unsettling. If you saw the American remake, the Japanese version lacks the special effects but the story is much more cohesive.
Rasen which was the sequel to Ringu is the only horror movie that could actually make you sleep better at night. It is just so dreadfully boring that it's hard to keep your eyes open.
Ringu 2 was the 2nd attempt at a sequel and although head and shoulders better then Rasen, it doesn't live up to the original.
Ringu 0 is the prequel to Ringu and was a most pleasant surprise. It tells the back story of Sadako (the girl in the well) and is very well done. It isn't as creepy or scary as Ringu, but if you're a fan of that movie then this is a must see.
In summary watch Ringu and Ringu 0 in that order and skip the sequels. If you insist on seeing a sequel, make it Ringu 2 and watch it before Ringu 0. Ringu 0 is a bit of a spoiler for the other films in my opinion. Do not under any circumstances watch Rasen lest you be cursed to fall into a deep, deep sleep.good series - MandM
These films are nicely directed, creepy, and more subtle than the American versions, although the US ones have the benefit of higher production values. Haven't seens Rasen yet, but Ringu 1 and 2 are both quite good. Ringu 0 was slower, with less scares, and appeared to be the lowest-budget film of the lot.
If you like the American adaptations of Japanese horror flicks, it's definitely worth checking out the originals, and the Ringu series are great examples.
