Hamish Macbeth: Series 1
Note: "West Coast Story" (Episode 4) is not included in this collection.
With the help of his right-hand man, TV John, police constable Hamish Macbeth (Robert Carlyle) keeps the peace in Lochdubh's mean streets in his own idiosyncratic way, with little regard for police regulations and every intention of avoiding promotion. Promotion would mean leaving his police home, the wild, beautiful Scottish countryside, and Wee Jock, his beloved West Highland terrier. So the less his superior officers in Inverness know of his policing activities, the better.

Those that enjoy drama with a wee bit of a regional twist will surely enjoy this.
It is unique, it is an acquired taste, and may not be for everyone.
I find the antics and character development in this one great. The writing sometimes suffers, but otherwise very enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys quirky drama, and the BBC.Occh! Go on. You wanny see it! - laertes
This is an absolutely charming series. Robert Carlyle is just about perfect as the only policeman in the remote Scottish village of Loch Dubh. To avoid promotion, Hamish tries not to appear to be too effective in his job. The villagers are quirky and extremely funny. The scenery is stunningly beautiful and if you don't fall in love with Hamish's dog, Wee Jock, well then ye nae have a heart!Hamish MacBeth - Oldbones
This is an odd yet interesting series based on the character Hamish Macbeth of the M.C. Beaton novels. The episodes are strange yet funny and very addictive. I first happend accross the charaters of Lochdubh on the BBC, and was hook in one episode. The strange episodes range form the unlikey to the outragous, but all subtly funny and entertaining. Plots revolve around the village of Lochdubh, it's citizense, and of course it's local Police Constable MacBeth. But of course the strange characters truly make the show, Like TV John. He who gets his name for the first in the village to have a TV. You should see atleast one episode, and I beleave you will want more. I DID.
