Space: Above And Beyond - The Complete Series
In this cult fan favorite, it's the year 2063. After 150 years of deep space exploration, the people of Earth feel certain they are alone in the universe. Then word comes that two Earth outposts light-years away from home have been brutally attacked by an advanced alien civilization. Now the new young recruits of the United States Marine Corps Space Aviator Calvary are heading for the front lines of space in the toughest battle the world has even faced.

Rare gem of the sci-fi world - AshaL
This show is one of those special and exciting shows that was cancelled too quickly, but is still worth seeing for all that they did accomplish.
The acting isn't the most polished, the cg is entirely laughable by today's standards, and some of the writing is a little over cooked, but it still really interesting and entertaining.
It certainly helped pave the way for shows like Battlestar Galactica.Unfortunately Short Lived - ArcAngelMD
Space: Above and Beyond (SAAB) was and remains one of my favourite TV series from the 90's. The show was short lived and was likely the victim of high production costs, a horrible time slot (a mature adult space war show at 7pm that was preempted nearly every week by football), and a grudge at FOX that had then network god Chris Carter foaming at the mouse of losing his production team Wong and Morgan to their own projects (this began the destruction of X-Files as well).
SAAB was set in the early stages of human space exploration where a chance encounter on a planet in our solar system set off a full blown invasion from the unknown. The series follows a team of young marines through training and into the war (think Band of Brothers but in space). The production value was very high for the time (over $2 million an episode) and the effects were strong for early CGI. We get through a lot in a season and it is worth re-watching or checking out for the first time. Be warned, however, that the final episode is a bit of a cliffhanger that is never resolved.
The cast was strong, though many have disappeared into marginal roles.well worth the rent - FieroGT
This is a very good series. It was canceled with still allot of potential. The only bad part was they skimped on the special effects. The ships and battle sequences were CGI but along the lines of the Last Starfighter not Star Wars or even Battlestar Galactica which were both done before this series. That said the acting and story lines were top notch and I did enjoy it thoroughly. There have been allot of Sci Fi series made and I would say this is in the top ten of those made for TV. If you like space settings and out of this world sets give this a watch you will not be dissappointed
