Wasn't sure if Atlantis would live up to it's predecessor SG-1. If season one is any indication not only will it live up to SG-1 but in some ways may surpass it. There are a lot more "main" characters which leads to more intimate ointeractions and more drama. Loved it!Fast-paced suspense and fun! - LK--
Everyone on Stargate Atlantis seems to be enjoying themselves (the actors and the characters) and it translates into an enjoyable time for the viewer :)
We liked this series so much, we bought season 1.
We were surprised at how different Atlantis episodes are from SG-1 episodes. We kind of expected a re-hash of eight seasons of SG-1, but the Atlantis storylines are different. They feature unique, intelligent (more or less, lol), interesting, suspenseful, action-packed storylines that really keep you glued to your seat and keep you guessing till the last moment.
The "best and brightest" have been sent through the stargate on earth to the Pegasus galaxy, the home of the Ancients -- Atlantis -- the city the Ancients "made lost" when it became apparent they could not win the war with the life-sucking Raiths. The best and brightest, from several countries, arrive at Atlantis only to find that yes, this has been a one-way trip for them... the ZPM on earth could only provide enough power to connect with the Pegasus galaxy once. And there are no ZPM's in the city of Atlantis (or are there?), so they can't dial home to report the city is abandoned/deserted.
Thanks to a few on the Atlantis team who have the "Ancients" gene, the city comes to life in the form of lights turning on, "computer-type" things turning on, doors opening, and so on.
But it's a race against time to find allies (they need help fighting the Raiths and they need to replenish their foodstuffs) while avoiding the Raiths and avoiding other humans who don't trust them and want to steal their technology! Who can they trust? Will anyone strangle Dr McKay? And will anyone ever throw away the million-year-old dead plants in Dr Weir's office?
We love to hate Dr Weir (the team leader); love the Scottish doctor -- what a ham!; love that the "big man" Dr Rodney McKay is such a wimp; love the conflict between would-be team leaders; and of course...gotta hate those Raiths!Stargate Atlantis - 2 Thumbs Up - Jonluc
The Wraith are really really bad... make the Ori and Goa'ulds look almost benevolent! As the series continues, one hopes the characters will become as solid and familar as SG1. I hope we will get 10 years or more of Stargate Atlantis! One final thought - please make Dr. McKay who plays a Canadian scientist a bit more Canadian eh!
