Interesting Comparison -- If you can watch it - TheShamus
Attention all fans of the "classic" Rogers and Hammerstein musical, "State Fair" -- you can have the 1945 and the 1962 version on in the same set (on two separate DVD's).
The movie/musical is basically a "love story" following the young relationships which blossom when some "small town" agricultural types meet some sophisticated "city slickers" at the state fair. Like real life, there are some "twists and turns" inthe relationships.
If you are a fan of the movie, it could be fun to watch the movies back-to-back to see how the old transportation is updated to a "racing car" in 1962. The 1962 version has well known stars like, "Bobby Darren" and "Pat Boone".
The 1945 version served as something light-hearted to watch on a snowed-in Sunday afternoon.
If you are a fan of musicals, or classic movies, these will not be the most memorable ... but very light hearted. Sometimes it's more fun to see how people wore "fancy suits" to go to the fair --- or deciding to get married the day you first meet someone you like.
I don't think State Fair will hold a lot of modern interest for many younger people -- but for fans of the genre, it will be a trip down memory lane.
