From the show that I dubbed "the program where nothing really happens", the writers have now picked up the pace. New characters are added, the older ones get fleshed out, and they abandon the constant plot device of "there's a new festival/contest/pageant in town" that was ever pervasive in the old series. Things happen this season, with some great new turns. Likeable, enjoyable, and...forming more and more into a soap opera. So far, they walked the line. The series continues wonderfully - Ralston_McTodd
The two central characters from seasons 1-3 have left, but the concept and supporting cast sustain the series. It's amazing that a show could manage the trick of maintaining its balance in the wake of such a passage, but BallyK manages. How do they do it? By integrating new characters slowly and relying on strongly human stories. There's a lesson here for other shows.
