Over There: Season 1
In this ground-breaking new series from Steven Bochco (NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues) Over There takes you to the front lines of battle and explores the effects of war on a U.S. Army unit sent to Iraq on their first tour of duty, as well as the equally powerful effects felt at home by their families and loved ones.

I was shocked that this series was not more popular. I guess because it dealt with more unglamorous aspects of deployments and the fallout at home, and less bang-bang shoot 'em up, was less popular. I would have loved another season. I zipped the whole season to watch again. Last time I felt this way about a show that was canceled before its time was when NBC pulled the plug on "Homicide: Life on the Streets", another raw, gritty TV drama.Shocking and Engrossing - katnick
Over There is the Black Hawk Down of television. It doesn't shy away from the more unsavory aspects of war, either in the field or on the home front, and unlike most shows the main characters aren't guaranteed to escape harm every time. It's really a shame this only lasted one season.Never heard of it before, but glad i came across it. - Rachel1
Over There is a show that I'd never heard of before, and I'm a pretty big TV buff. It originally aired in 2005 and must have just been ahead of it's time because it only lasted one season. Josh Henderson, who plays ne of the main characters Bo, was also in Step Up and Desperate Housewives. Sprague Grayden, who plays Bo's wife, has appeared in many other shows including Weeds, Six Feet Under, and Jericho, as well as 24's 7th season. Other notable appearances come from Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Zack from Saved by the Bell, plays a reporter, and Brigid Brannagh, who currently appears on Army Wives. The show is intense, but usually leaves you feeling resolved as most episode plots conclude in one episode rather than carrying on over several. Each episode ends with the same song, Over There, while the credits run.
