The Young Riders: Season 1
Saddle up for fun and adventure with The Young Riders! Set in the early days of the Pony Express, the series tells the fictionalized story of a group of young riders for the express in Sweetwater, Kansas, who just happen to include a couple of dudes who would one day go down in real-life history as two of the west’s most notorious names: "Buffalo Bill" Cody (Stephen Baldwin) and "Wild Bill" Hickock (Josh Brolin). In charge of the bunch is ex-Texas ranger and all-around eccentric teaspoon hunter (Anthony Zerbe). See how they all put the wild in the wild, wild west in this complete first season of The Young Riders.

Ask any woman born between 1976 and 1979 and she will tell you about The Young Riders. When it was on in the early 90s, I used to watch it while I taped it and watch it again right after. I bought the first season on DVD as an adult I wondered if it would be one of those shows I loved as a kid but hated as an adult. It was not. The acting and plot along with the blatant stereotypes and struggling dialogue are a source of comedy but the characters are so endearing you can't help but watch them again and again!Fair TV Offering - Gaucho
The acting is terrible, the plots are borrowed from Bonanza, and the music is out of place.
Wouldn't this then be one you should miss? Not really. The show, despite these shortcomings, still works. Maybe it's the production value that kept me watching, with great shots of riding and pretty competent action scenes. Or perhaps there are some good actors on the show, bringing you in when others have lost the credibility.
Or maybe TV still needs a good western.
Where's season two, Zip?Harmless fun for all - kristadb
I enjoyed The Young Riders "back in the day" when it first came out. True, this is more Disney Does the Wild West then HBO's Deadwood but that part of its appeal. You can watch this and enjoy the silliness, the campiness, and the fun characters.
The video quality overall is good. There are a few spots that are too dark or faded, but it's rare enough that it doesn't interfer with the enjoyment of the show.
I'm enjoying this series in a different way then I did back in high school when this first came on. However, I loved it then and I am still enjoying it 18 years later.
