1) The natural landscape is just beautiful. It's the natural world I love. That place is hot, full of searing winds and hot sand.
2) The desert is amazing
3) I wanted more shots of the searing, arid landscape. Still it was great.
4) Why is there not more fish in the desert? Very odd.The Sahara is a natural wonder - Starcat
I wasn't sure what to expect with this travel video. It was pretty good. Michael Palin gives some background info and then you see his experiences. Fortunately for him and the audience, he has intrepters...something the everyday traveller wouldn't have. I have seen only the 1st disc and it was interesting and let me see people who live in harsh conditions and prevail. It makes me want to see the Sahara...a natural wonder in itself.not gritty but really entertaining - Michael_Cox
He often gets in the way of his material, with witticisms and comments he'd be better off keeping to himself, but he is a charming host and in the best parts of this series we get to see truly remarkable people who live in the modern world but also hold onto their traditions. Especially breathtaking are the Touareg (no, not the Volkswagen SUV, the tribe) as they cross the desert. Episodes two and three are great, number four is a bit of a letdown, but all in all its well worth viewing. And remember, yesterday's Sahara was forest...think about it.
