1979 World Series: Pittsburgh Pirates Collector's Edition
A team that became a family. A family that became champions.
From the moment the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates first took the field, until they battled back to defeat the Baltimore Orioles in the 1979 World Series, "the Buccos" demanded attention and respect. The optimism of manager Chuck Tanner provided the perfect guidance to a team already led by the universally-respected Willie Stargell and the ferocious hitting of Dave Parker. Galvanized by a family spirit, a crowd-pleasing song, and the shared fire to win, this team was marked by character, confidence, and a flair for dramatic victories.
Down three games to one, the Pirates provided a sudden plot change and stormed back to claim the 1979 World Series championship. Every game of this remarkable Fall Classic, every pitch, clutch hit, stellar pitching performance, and infectious smile of the Pirates is digitally preserved in this one-of-a-kind collectible.

hi there, so im a baseball fan. ive grown up with the blue jays, witnessed the back to backs, and became a mariners fan with the griffey era. all that has changed. the blue jays suck, have no promise, with a poor organization, so i am left to cheer vicariously with teams i have no background with.
the pittsburgh pirates series intrigued me cuz its before an era i was even born, but not too far out of sight. i knew id get some cool uniforms, mustaches, skinny ball players, and something i couldnt have prepared myself for: the stargell phenomenon.
stars were awarded to ball players by willie stargell for accomplishments during the season. some guys had caps filled with em! others were still earning their respect.
you might not be able to hang with this collection as its 7 discs long, every single game of the world series, but if you watch at least one of the games, you can zip a happy camper.
play ball!
