Twitch City: The Complete Series
Tony-winning writer/director/actor Don McKellar (The Drowsy Chaperone) created this quirky "non-com" (neither sit nor dot) that explores our collective addiction to television. McKellar stars as Curtis, a man who ingests dangerous levels of cathode rays, much to the chagrin of his girlfriend Hope (Molly Parker, Deadwood) and various other inhabitants of his downtown home, which is neither semi-detached nor semi-attached.
There’s a lot of wandering around in bathrobes while surfing the dial looking for existential meaning in the daily quotidian of dreck that filters into the living room, thanks to on-onscreen appearances from Kids in the Hall Mark McKinney and Bruce McCullough.
Thirteen bouts of episodic behaviour that somehow made it to the CBC. Yes, it has a following.
Guest stars include: Al Waxman (King of Kensington), Bruce McCulloch (Kids in the Hall), Mark McKinney (Kids in the Hall), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Childstar), Valerie Buhagiar (Roadkill), Kenneth Welsh (This is Wonderland), Hugh Dillion (Hard Core Logo), Setfan Brogren (Degrassi), Joyce DeWitt (Three’s Company).

I am so stoked to see this on DVD!
The descriptor pretty much says it all. This was the brainchild of star Don McKellar, and it follows the life of an agoraphobic TV addict, who takes in roomates to pay the rent.
Great Canadian actress Molly Parker is one of those roomates, and they form a strange romantic relasionship.
It's hard to describe this show ... it's a little bit Northern Exposure "quirky character" comedy, a little bit British style dry humour, and alot just it's own uniquely Canadian thing.
It's too bad this never found it's audience the way Corner Gas, or Trailer Park Boys did. It's every bit as funny as those shows. It developed a small cult following, but it wasn't enough to keep it on the air. Too bad!
