Criminal Minds: Season 1
The way to a criminal is through his mind.
Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. Special Agent Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) is the FBI's top behavioral analyst and he joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit lead by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), a family man who is able to gain people's trust and unlock their secrets. Also on the team are Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), an agent with a background in sexual offenses; Special Agent Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; and Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, (AJ Cook), a confident young agent who acts as the unit liaison for the team. Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators' motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them.

This is the best show on TV. I can watch them over and over again and have most of the seasons so far on DVD. The characters are likable Especially Dr. Reid. I like how you get to know the individuals and a bit of personal background on each of them, but it never interferes with the overall case each week. There are other shows (crime drama and medical drama) that are so wrapped up in regular characters lives that there is very little about the weekly case. Those shows should be called soap operas. I feel like these are real people and real crimes when I watch. Having good actors helps you to feel for the characters. Even with the cast changes in the first 2 seasons they made it through. I personally think the departure of Greenway and Gideon were a good move. I enjoy watching Prentiss and Rossi so much more. Rethinking the departure of JJ and Prentiss and bringing them back was the smartest move for the show. I look forward to watching many more seasons of Criminal Minds .I love this show! - Firefly1980
Criminal Minds is the best show around.
Gideon and Penelope are my favourite characters! I love the tension and the mystery of the episodes. The BAU are excellent at their jobs, and at leaving me wanting more. Each episode just grabs my attention, and makes me think. Sometimes just when you've thought you figured it out, WHAM! it switches it up.
Love it and can't wait to watch more!Average television... - Cricri7
I started looking at Criminal minds and I will probably keep going because I found it okay...not great...not bad...but okay. If you have looked at a couple of shows on profiling, you will find all the cliches in this show. It is not subtle. They probably don't have the best writers on television but some of the actors deliver solid performances with what they have.
Thomas Gibson and Mandy Pantinkin are excellent actors and are well casted. My find was Matthew Gray Gulber who plays the genius with 3 PhD's at 25 years old. He is a cute geek and Gulber plays him well. I can't find why they casted Shemar Moore in that role. He is not at ease while delivering his lines and I don't believe at all in his role. He's not so good as an actor to make us forget how hunky he is while playing someone who is supposed to be of superior intelligence. I know that was a bit mean, but I really don't believe he has a place in that series.
Rent it if you want to see good entertainment but don't expect a series of the quality of The Sopranos, Six feet under, etc.
