Joan of Arcadia: Season 2
An average 16-year-old, Joan is going through the growing pains typical of any teenager. But after she and her family (Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen, Jason Ritter, Michael Welch) relocate to Arcadia, her life gets especially interesting when God starts paying her visits.

I enjoyed Joan of Arcadia when it was on the air, though as I remember it was moved around a couple of times so it wasn't easy to keep up with, so having the entire series on DVD makes it much easier to follow. I was concerned on hearing some songs were replaced due to licensing issues, but I haven't noticed the difference. Perhaps devout fans of the series might remember scenes differently but they certainly don't stick out. I like season 2 much better than 1 (and wish there had been a third) since they know more who the characters are and what the show is supposed to be about. The acting and writing is superb. Very enjoyable series of it's time.Missed Its Potential (Spoiler Alert) - PDon+
Up front, I am a big fan of the Joan franchise. I have been pleased each time I watch an episode by the fact that TV can talk about matters of faith. However, what killed this series in my mind, was the lack of vision in the writing and producing. (**SPOILER ALERT!**) At the end of the season, Joan meets her archrival who would ultimately do battle with Joan (if the series hadn't been canned before said battle could occur). What would have been much cooler, would have been to tease us along during the whole season that such an adversary would arise. I don't blame Sony/CBS for dropping a series that didn't have the forsight to include this major plot development until the final two episodes. I wasn't hooked by Ryan's appearance because he hadn't been hinted at all season. (**SPOILER ALERT!**) All in all, the producers/writers were too busy with their multiple major crises (the lawsuit, Judith's death, Will's possible affair, Rove's infidelity, etc) to weave a common theme that built throughout the season. I loved the characters, but it was just too all over the place. It is a shame, cause I really wanted to see Joan overcome Satan.Nice refresher - andy3
I hadn't seen these episodes since they were on tv.
It was so nice to see all the characters again and I had a new perspective on everything since i've done more spiritual work.
The extra features were interesting too because I got more insight into the characters (and the research as spoken throughout the commentary) which was a bonus.
Highly recommended!
