Extras: Season 1
The story of man with small parts.
Meet Andy Millman, Actor. Never forgets his lines because he never gets any. Andy (Ricky Gervais) is a desperate man. He's been an actor for five years but thanks to his useless agent (Stephen Merchant), he's never done any real acting. Instead, he's a lowly film extra, making his mark in the background while the stars do their work. His partner in arms is the pitiable Maggie, a fellow extra and a hopeless romantic. Andy may be an extra, but he's a star in his own right. Too bad nobody else agrees.

Extras fails on so many levels to please or even have me giggle. The HBO infamous show is vile, horrid and offensive to say the least.
Ricky Gervais is a comic genius specializing in the art of discomfort, but this new character doesn't have the same compelling anti-charisma or lovability as Brent in the award winning Office. My main gripe about this show on the whole is that every single episode seems to be a carbon copy of the last and somehow goes downhill. Bad to worse Gervais compared a woman with Cerbal Palsey to a drunk irish. And then comments how "Wonderful it was to see a cripple laugh" because its uncommon?!?high expectations but ok - Treyab73
I had high expectations from a friend recommending these and I love Ricky Gervais. But they were just ok for me. The dry British humour is fantastic, I just found them a little slow moving. Gervais character comes out with the best digs and then you kinda wait for the next one. Definite good renter.Extras: Season 1 - Jude
Funny? Yes. But Rick Gervais always plays himself, just in different settings. He has some new side kicks in this one, and wonderful cameo roles by big Hollywood names. The same kind of off beat, off colour humour as his other shows. I enjoyed it, but I do not think I will bother to rent Season 2.
