Beer, broads and softball combine with hilarious results in Artie Lange's Beer League, an over-the-top comedy about a group of misfits whose weekly softball games descend more into fights for macho dominance than making home runs. When love enters his life (Cara Buono), it unexpectedly alters Artie's low self-esteem; and the odds for winning—not only the league trophy but a new life—are considerably amped along with the comedy and chaos.

I couldn't believe how bad this movie is. There is not one redeeming quality about it. Well, the acting isn't atrocious, but it's still pretty bad. The writing is awful, mostly because the jokes are so bad. It's as if a bunch of 14 year-old got together and wrote the script. All the humour is derived from the characters calling each other jerk-offs, and about how everyone is some fag or another, and so forth. And don't get me started on the production values! Never have I seen a bar lit as bright as it was in this movie. You would have thought it was a sports arena because it was so bright.Guys rent this when your wife isn't home - someones_Mom
My hubby is a Howard Stern/Artie Lange/Jim Brewer fan so he thought this was the next sliced bread. I however found it to be your typical no-mind beer, T&A, bad joke movie. While he was laughing hysterically I was watching the clock trying to figure out when it was going to be over. So for my hubby I will give it a four.One-liners coming back? - Dakos
As the previous reviewer had noted, this a classic 80's movie with all the politically incorrect jokes. Artie Lange manages to insult every character in the movie with tasteless jokes so if you are expecting something different, try another movie. Personally I liked it because the jokes were made in the context of the situation and the recipients of the jokes deserved them. Whoever played Minangelli played it beautifully, classic Italian stallion character.
