What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Sister, sister, oh so fair, why is there blood all over your hair?
Director Robert Aldrich's story: A thriller about an aging ex-vaudeville child star who initiates a psychotic reign of terror over her crippled '30s movie-queen sister. His stars: Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. All he needed was the money. But when Alderich scoured Hollywood for backing, he kept hearing, "We wouldn't give you a dime for those two old broads."
They were worth millions. Audiences asked What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? in droves- and made this eerie, surprise-laden shocker a deserved smash.

Because Baby Jane would star a couple of "old broads," Hollywood nearly didn't finance this movie. It was a hit nevertheless, as Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, looking homely and haggard, chewed up the scenery magnificently. Baby Jane is advertised as a thriller, but might actually be a comedy in disguise. Totally entertaining.Fair? Hardly! - movie_goer
"Bette Davis and Joan Crawfords famous fueds off screen for each other, is channeled onscreen in a spine chilling pshyco-thriller."
What Ever happened to Baby Jane is calculated, well scripted and eerie. Your literally sitting at the edge of your chair wondering what will happen next? And in those very early moments automatically your empathic and fearful for Crawfords pyshical well-being and emotional state when she's imprisioned by her sister... or is she? I love this movie and i love how the cameraman chose it's use of lighting techniques and choice of angles. This Film couldn't get any better!Thrilling! - SAllende
The film is great. The film starts off slightly slowly, but the thrill factor keeps increasing and increasing until right till the ending.
By the half way through the movie, I was on the edge of my sit wondering what was going to happen next,
While I admit that Joan Crawford had the tougher role than Bette Davis (playing a crazy disturbed old woman is easier - and more fun - than playing a more subtle character), Bette Davis is absolutely wonderful as Baby Jane.
I think the movie is more fun knowing that Bette Davis and Joan Crawford absolutely hated each other and fought with each other viciously during the shooting of this film.
The only negative about this film was the almost constant background music/soundtrack. We don't always need music to know how we should feel!
To summarize, a wonderful suspenseful thriller!
