I like swearing, the more the better. That's how they used to do it in the old west I guess. There could have been more violence and, especially, nudity in the show but maybe that's just my personal taste. I have to say that bringing on that dude from Simon & Simon was a bad choice. Didn't like the character, don't like the actor. Every one else in the cast is great. Can Not Say Enough Good Things - Bluenoser
Why are the best shows always cancelled just as they hit their stride?
Deadwood is by far the best TV program I've ever seen. The writing, acting, sets and costumes are amazing. The dialogue intellegent - it never once talked down to the audience.
I was saddened to realize there would be no more episodes. I am not one to visit fan sites, but I found myself visiting them, just to see if there was any hope of it coming back - there isn't.
Even though you're left hanging and wanting more, it is well worth the time to watch all three seasons and see what TV can really do.One of the best - caperaway
Deadwood is one of the best series HBO created, right up there with Six Feet Under and Carnivale. (And just so you know where I stand, Sopranos does NOT make that list.) Like Carnivale, Deadwood prematurely ends. Season 3 is the final season of this Western saga. A couple of TV movies had been planned to wrap up the series but recent news suggests those will never be made. As such, Deadwood ends unfinished, but not unsatisfactorily. The major events started in Season 2 wrap here in Season 3, and that's what's most important. That gives Season 3 and Deadwood as a whole a suitable end. What doesn't get finished are the various stories of Deadwood's characters, but I found that to be of little issue because even the briefest of glimpses into a history book reveal the majority of the true life characters lived full, long lives. As such, one can leave the Deadwood series knowing Seth, Al, Charlie, Jane and others continued on with their lives in the manner in which they did so through the three seasons of this landmark series. I only wish we had a chance to watch the infamous fire of 1879 that devasted the town. It is foreshadowed in the series, but alas it will never come to be.
