The series features an all-star lineup of Emmy, Golden Globe and Oscar winners including Sally Field (Norman Rae), Tom Skerritt (Picket Fences), Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under), Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) and Rob Lowe (The West Wing). William (Skerritt) and Nora (Field) have raised five unique children, all battling complex problems. Kitty (Flockhart) is an outspoken political commentator who begins a relationship with charismatic Senator Robert McCallister (Lowe), while Sarah (Griffiths) balances motherhood with managing the struggling family business. Tommy (Balthazar Getty) is the loyal son who manages the Walker family business with Sarah. Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is a gay lawyer coming to terms with his sexuality, while Justin (Dave Annable), a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, battles drug addiction.

A modern soap opera - Pumon
This show is very much like a soap opera except that it was shown in prime time. It has just as many crazy storylines and is just as difficult to follow. This is why it is a rivetting show that is worth wacthing. Since I could hardly keep up with it when it was on tv I really enjoyed watching all of the episodes back to back to backWow, what a dramatic opening! - 1writer
Although I have been watching Brothers and Sisters for several seasons I had never seen the first. So I decided to go back and see how it all began. Wow! The opening of the series had an excellent start with complex story lines and great character development. I had somehow thought that it would have started so much slower and worked it's way into the strong series that it is now. Fabulous dramatic series!Really love this show - Shanex
We really loved Season 1 of Brothers & Sisters....couldn't stop watching it once we started. Coming from a fairly large family, I could relate to a lot of the issues the family members have with each other. How often do we hear, "Don't tell anyone else!" only to watch the whole family hear a watered-down version of the story. It's so funny. My brother is gay too, so I enjoy that storyline as well. Great show!
