amazing beginning, poor ending - Bibs
There is a lot of time invested in watching a season instead of a movie. Therefore, one doesn't want to waste hours. The writing and ideas at the start of season 1 are truly excellent. However, I found myself bored in the last third of the season, and in particular found the last episode, the one to FINALLY tie things up, totally lame and boring. I suppose by then I just wanted it to end so that I could stop watching it. Too bad - a superb start to the season.Time well-spent being entertained! - jeeenieee
Season 1 left me feeling like, 'OMG! I don't believe it! I wonder what happens next!' between commercial breaks and even more so between episodes. As cliche as this all sounds, the first season was so well written with plot twists, fascinating characters, and mysteries to be unlocked, that it was like a good book you don't want to put down at the end of a chapter and leaves you wanting more. It's like reading Harry Potter or the Da Vinci Code where you can't stop turning the page. I hate watching TV shows, but this is an awesome series that leaves you feeling like it was time well-spent being thoroughly spell-bound and entertained!Waffles... - Rowan
This was one of the best TV surprises I ever got. What makes it different is the respect the writers seem to have for the audience. They crafted real, 3-Dimensional characters you might expect to meet on teh street corner and inflicted them with inexplicable and terrifying "powers". The recurring themes - visual, artistic, and conceptual, were quirky and amusing. Count the references to comic books and waffles used as unifying elements! I never knew what was going to happen - which was a novelty after a lifetime of TV and movies.
Unfortunately the momentum and freshness was lost in the second season, and I won't mention the third, but the first stands alone as one of the best series...ever.
