Great series!! I loved all the characters and couldn't decide which one was my favourite! All the stories were so cool how they linked together to make the bigger picture. Sylar was an awesome bad guy, really creepy. Can't wait to see the next season!Superior Television - Gregg
As most are undoubtedly aware "Heroes" tells the stories of a number of persons who have begun to exhibit unusual powers, powers such as the ability to fly. Whereas these types of powers are usually associated with superheroes and comic books, these individuals don’t wear costumes. They are also faced with both the regular every day challenges of normal people, and those brought about by their own special circumstances.
The intriguing storylines alone with strong performances by the cast, loads of style in both the visuals and music, and good production values make this superior television.
I found for my own experience that the series played even better on DVD than watching as it originally aired. It’s easier to follow some of the nuances of the plot and character development when watching the series over a more compressed schedule, and also with the ability to pause or rewind.
One of my few complaints would be the pseudo-science, in particular the Human Genome project's use, and also attempting to use genes to explain something like the ability for human flight. They would have been better off avoiding these attempts to explain things, I found it similar too but not as egregious as George Lucas's metaclorians.
The Special Features are good. For most episodes there are deleted scenes, and the scenes are in a finished state. While they don’t feature any great revelations there are some interesting insights and a little further character development. The commentaries are not terribly informative, but they are by and large entertaining. Most are a combination of cast and crew, with the crew providing more of the information and the cast the entertainment. The unaired pilot is interesting but ultimately not as good as the aired pilot, there are several casting differences in secondary characters and a very different spin on the ‘radioactive man’ character which also meant a different introduction of one of the primary charactersThe best new series of 2006-2007 - LandPhil
I was hooked on this series right from the first episode. It reminds me of Unbreakable (a very underrated movie), people discovering their powers and how they choose to use those powers. Some are heroes and others are villains. The potential I see in this show is incredible. Essentially it's like watching the X-Men before they became superheroes. Individuals who think they might be freaks come together and save the world. The characters are great, the writers put a lot of work into bringing them to life and giving them backstories which really enable us to get sucked in to their lives. If you didn't have chnace to catch this show on TV during the season, definitely pick up the DVD. If you love comics and superheroes but on a whole other level, this show is for you.
